Amanda Thate

Amanda Thate is a 19-year-old from small town Grand Forks, British Columbia, Canada.  Being an aspiring country singer and guitar player really has her excited about her future in music.

She recorded her début CD album entitled, “I’ll Meet You,” in the spring of 2011. This album holds some of her favourite traditional country tunes, along with some recent songs, even a couple originals, written by her talented mother, Monica Thate. CD – “I’ll Meet You” – $15 plus $5 shipping.

Released in the spring of 2012, a new album “I Have My Place” – $15 plus $5 shipping.

In 2011, after winning “The Next Step” talent contest through KBS Radio and Kootenay Concert Connections, she earned the opportunity to go on tour with Country Hall of Famer, Roy Clark, opening for him during his travels in Canada.  She remembers the time with him as “the greatest learning experience one could have.”  She feels blessed to have had the chance to tour with a legend like Roy, and to have worked with so many high-energy professionals in the business.

Amanda took a trip to Nashville in the spring of 2011 to work with a live music producer, Tom Jackson. Being in the country music capital was a dream come true to her.  “It is not only a beautiful city,” she says, “but a place where country music thrives.”  Amanda took in a show at the “Grand Ole Opry.” For her, the highlight of the trip was to stand at the centre stage on the famous carved circle where hundreds of legendary artists had stood. Amanda had the honour of going to the Ryman Auditorium for a show, along with the Bluebird Cafe.  She worked with Jackson at S.I.R. studios where the one and only Taylor Swift had produced her live show only days before.  Over the course of the trip, Amanda sang at various venues such as “John A’s” and “Nashville Nightlife” where she was accompanied by Tammy Wynette’s own personal band.

Amanda is thrilled to be performing at various venues with her band. “It’s honouring to share the stage with such talented musicians,” she says. Amanda’s second CD album (released May 23, 2012) has her excited to travel and perform, opening for stars such as Roy Clark and Gord Bamford.

Some things about Amanda – “I love rainy days and Sundays, guitar picks and freshly cut grass.  I like long shadows… and daisies are my absolute favourite.  I love to sing and write music and I know the best part of country music is getting to wear cowboy boots, any chance I get!  I love poetry and old-English movies.  I enjoy spontaneous road trips and long drives around town… I love late nights, early mornings, and long laughs with Brook, my incredible sister.
What I love about country music is the opportunity to connect with people and hear their stories.  Most of all, I love spending time with the One who made me and fulfilling His will for my life.”
